Description
A true intumescent pillow made from a hardwearing coated cloth pillow filled with pieces of fireproof sponge and Envirograf® intumescent material – it is soft and pliable, enabling them to be wrapped around services and to fill awkward areas. The pillows not only give fire stopping and smoke sealing, but will expand to 3 times their size in a fire, but are not high pressured, so they will not push each other out, they will just lock together. Can be used in computer rooms and sterile areas, as a permanent protection system or temporary, while work is being carried out, where you want to ensure that the builders or engineers don’t take the pillows out and not fit them back again. We can supply a cord and eyelet, so all Pillows have a cable or cord through the eyelet, joining them all together and screw each cable to the walls, so they have to put the Pillow back – add /T to the reference for eyelet tag. Special sizes can be made to order.
ADVANTAGES
- Ideal for awkward gaps as it can be compressed
- A good temporary solution, providing up to 2 hours fire resistance
- Can be fitted with cord and 100mm retention tag to fix the pillows in place as a permanent solution
- Great for use around cables which are regularly adjusted
- Non-fibrous, dust-free materials are suitable for use in sterile areas or clean rooms
FIRE TEST PERFORMANCE
Tested to BS476 Part 22 (1987), achieving 181 minutes integrity.
Tested at VNE to European Standard EN1363-1 (2000), achieving 2 hours fire protection.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The pillows can be folded to fit between pipes and services. For vertical openings i.e. In walls, build the pillows in rows and staggered in formation, compressing each pillow to ensure all gaps are filled to stop the passage of smoke. For horizontal openings i.e. floors, build together as in walls, but where openings are greater than 700mm x 400mm, to prevent sagging, supply additional support by fixing wire mesh into the opening first.
